The Ultimate Companionship: Who Would I Choose to Spend a Year Alone?

Imagine being stuck in a small room with only one person for a year. Would you choose someone who loves exercise and adventure, or would you pick someone who is dull and boring? Let's explore the qualities and individuals that would make for an ideal spending sibling.

The Dull Dilemma

Unfortunately, there are people who might be too boring to spend an entire year with. From personal experience, I can attest that being around someone who is too sedentary and unsociable would be incredibly difficult. One participant stated, ‘Good grief absolutely no one that I can think of.Honestly nobody I’d probably kill them.’ This stark response highlights the importance of choosing someone who can engage in various activities and enjoy life, rather than someone who is completely uninterested in social or physical engagement.

The Ideal Spending Sibling

The ideal choice for spending a year with would be someone who shares a passion for exercise and a variety of activities. They should also have a zest for life, laughter, and fun. In my ideal scenario, the person would enjoy activities such as dancing, playing in nature, and having a good laugh. They should also be open to enjoying the simple pleasures of life, like watching clouds, playing in mud or sand, and enjoying the outdoors. This kind of person would make the time fly by, and I’d be hesitant to leave after a year!

Physical Attractiveness and Honesty

While it might seem superficial, physical attractiveness is a significant factor for many when choosing a companion. Almost everyone would prefer someone who is physically attractive, especially if they are interested in each other. Additionally, honesty and integrity are highly valued traits. Someone who is knowledgeable and whose knowledge can benefit others is also highly ideal.

A Clarified Ideal Companion

Considering these criteria, my ideal companion would be a woman who is well-rounded and sees herself as an individual. She would be wise, kind, and balanced in her outlook on life. As someone who is well-versed in different perspectives of life and has no hidden agendas, she would be a great companion. Ideal words to describe such a person would be warm, intelligent, and relatable. In fact, my ideal companion would ideally reflect the philosophy of Allen Watts, an influential figure who has significantly transformed my thinking. Spending a year with someone as enlightened as Allen Watts would be an incredible journey.

Historical Curiosity

For those who prefer someone from the past, imagine spending a year with a historical figure like Julius Caesar. The opportunity to discuss his battles and intrigues, and to gain insight into life in Rome would be unparalleled. However, such a scenario is purely hypothetical, as no one would be able to force us to make such a decision. One participant humorously suggested, ‘I would live with Julius Caesar. Oh to ask him about Rome and his battles and intrigue before his assassination.’

The Verdict: No Companions Wanted

Ultimately, the choice of a companion for a year is a personal one, but the ideal companion would have to possess engaging qualities and provide mental stimulation. Whether it be someone who is physically attractive, someone with wisdom like Allen Watts, or a historical figure like Julius Caesar, the key is to find someone who can provide an enriching and enjoyable experience. So, who would you choose to spend a year with?
